CONTROVERSIAL IDEAS AND CONCEPTS IN FASHION AND ART


The message in theses images is either to promote alcohol or to show drugs as an addiction. The images for alcohol give across the message of alcohol in fashion clothing and this could come across negatively. The drug pictures are showing fashion addiction which can also be an issue, the message is that fashion is addictive just like drugs.
The message in animal cruelty images are that it is not fashionable anymore to wear any animal skin. It is seen as a negative thing now rather than in earlier years it was seen as a great thing to be wearing animal skin. They are using eye catching things in these images like celebrities and blood and bold letters to make the message clear.
In these images the message portrayed is hurt, because everyone hurts when been violent to whether that is physically or mentally or any other way. These are all shown in different ways which can be very controversial and disturbing to some people but the message is meant to be eye catching to show the message that we do see these people everyday and may never know what has actually happen because people are scared.
These images are more fashion like, they can be controversial because some religious people would not associate religion with fashion, this can be offensive because the religion is portrayed in a bad way. The message in these images is that religion can be connected with anything and can be used in meaningful ways in fashion.
The message in these images portraying racism is that we should all be treated equally even though we all look different. In all of these images it sends out a positive message but in an unusual way of shocking or confusing the customer.

Artists Evaluation

Banksy

No clean water left...

This picture shows poverty, that the young child has to bath in a bucket with dirty water. The massage portrayed is that in part of the world there is no clean water and children are suffering because of this. This is bringing the audience awareness to poverty.


Rickshaw

This picture has the message of equality. the boy in black and white emphasises that he is worth less than the couple in colour. This shows that the couple arent even bothered about what the boy is going through, they just want to have a good time.


A false sense of protection

this is conveying that not everything is as safe as it seems. because it is raining inside her umbrella rather than outside which an umberalla usually protects you from the rain. the massage in this is that you cant trust everything.


'I Hate Mondays'

This young boy is wearing clothes that we have given, what we leave for the developing world. This is irony because its a t-shirt that says i hate mondays which we all complain about but this child is poor and has to work 24 hours each day everyday. so in actual act he probably hates everyday not just mondays. the message given in this picture is that we should appreciate everyday we have because we don't go through what some do around the world.


Marcus Harvey

This image was created by lots of the same image in small. Myra Hindly is the women in the painting and this is controversial because myra was accused and sent to prison for assisting a variety of murders. Harvey says that he knows enough information to know she did not commit any of the murders but knows that she was greatly attached to the man that did. The message that is given is that she did wrong but not as wrong as some others have so she can have a pieces of art work of her because it's not going to change facts.

Shockvertising...



SHOCKVERTISNG

This is a type of advertising generally regarded as one that "deliberately, startles and offends its audience by violating norm for social values and personal ideals". Shockvertising is designed purposely to break through the advertising clutter to capture attention and create a buzz. this form of advertising is often controversial, disturbing and explicit and may have bold and provocative messages that cause controversy in society.

 
Sisley tries to convey the symbol of an urban fashionista. This is a fashion 'junkie' campaign, the term junkie is usually used for the meaning of a drug addict but here they are using it to portray a fashion addict. This is shocking the viewer into remembering the brand.


This is to advertise domestic violence, saying its not acceptable to treat a woman like a piece of meat. by putting the women's clothes on the meat it catches the audiences eyes and makes them intrigued and then they read the caption to realize what the advertisement is about. compared to the Sisley advertisement this is more intriguing to the audience , people want to find out what this about where as the Sisley advertisement people instantly assume something bad.

Foto

This is an advertisement to advertise that animal testing is wrong. The women in the photo is spraying a perfume but there is no bottle it is a dog, the meaning of the photo is your abusing a dog when using a perfume. This will catch the audiences eye because it will make the audience think about what they are doing. Compared to the other ads this is a little less disturbing and the message is portrayed a lot clear i think.
